NEWSShe's gone!
Yes, after eight years of ownership we decided to sell the Escort! It now resides with it's new owners somewhere in the North of England.
There were a few factors that convinced us that selling would be the best idea:
Firstly, we run our own business which (thankfully) has taken off quite well through 2009/2010. The down-side of this was always a lack of time to prepare and run the car. In its last year we took it out three times which, for a car like this, is sacrilege.
Secondly, finances. It has become increasingly more expensive over the years to enter race events. What with bigger entry fees, more expensive fuel, and the constant wear & tear we were spending upwards of £1,000 per weekend event to run the car. For a ten-round championship that becomes a very expensive hobby!
Thirdly, space. When it wasn't on the track it had to be stored somewhere along with all of its spares & tools. Because we were keeping it in the workshop at work (no space at home due to bikes & lawnmowers!) it was effectively costing us £100 pcm to store. Add another £1200 per annum into the expenses mix!
Lastly, I guess I think we'd done as much as we could with that car. It's been featured in magazines, has had pictures in magazines & newspapers, got so much coverage on the internet. What next? Let the new owners decide.
There is a new project in the mix now though. Whilst not as radical as the Escort it is (obviously) going to be V8 powered, and we'll gradually re-vamp this site to show what it is, and how we're doing with it.
