Mopar Nationals - Santa Pod July 24th - 26th
The good old English summer put paid to any track time on Friday with downpours to rival even the best monsoon!
Saturday dawned bright, warm and sunny, and became very hot during the day. We'd done a fair bit of work to the car (gearbox, torque convertor, blower drive, fuel breathers) and were looking forward to shaking it down.
Three runs of 11.3 seconds, 11.2 seconds and 11.1 seconds confirmed the gearbox was working, though each was plagued with fluid leaks (header tank, then rear manifold seal, then coolant hose). Working on the car plus queues for the track meant that three runs was all we could get on the Saturday.
Sunday dawned cooler, but still dry. A stonking burnout followed by a 10.7 second run at 130mph cheered us all up, but the following political goings-on meant that the one run was all we could do on the Sunday.
Our thanks must go to Santa Pod, and in particular the race director for the meeting who did his best to keep us on track.

Good Friday -  Surrey Street Rodders 'Wheels-Day' event at Rushmoor arena, Aldershot.
The cloud-less skies we enjoyed at Shakespeare County were absent, and it rained for virtually the entire day. This didn't seem to deter the Hot-Rodders, Drag Racers, American and Classic Car Lovers and Bikers who all turned out in their droves. The Escort was fronting the Surrey Mustang stand, and drew a lot of attention, particularly as we fired it up at regular intervals. Nice picture and comments in the June edition of Custom Car magazine.

Meat & Cheese

Purveyors of the worlds rudest tee-shirts, they also do a neat line in 'Meatpackers' male underwear, and a farting spacehopper titled 'Guffhopper'. As seen in the most select of boutiques and some of the finest court buildings in the land.

Meat & Cheese made the difference between a standard 460 block (a BIG risk) and the current Ford SVO block. Nick mate, you're a star!

T. J. Services

Are an MOT testing station and car repair workshop. We've done business with TJ's for years, and the keep all of the Kitney cars in MOT's including the Escort. They also supply tyres at very competitive rates.

T. J. Services, just like Meat & Cheese, stepped up to the mark when we were choosing pistons and it's thanks to Trevor (yes, another Trevor) that we now have the custom made forged pistons that you see on the gallery pages
